We all need some grace while on the road! Long days of travel, close interactions with family and friends, working through delays and repairs – all of these can leave us short-tempered or discouraged. Even on the most perfect camping days, we need reminders of the love and mercy of God.
Camping, hiking, and traveling give us endless opportunities to view the amazing beauty and complexity of creation. Have you ever considered that it is equally amazing that humans even respond to nature at all? Why should gazing at mountains, waterfalls, and autumn colors change the way we feel?
I believe that we respond because creation declares the glory of God, and our souls and spirits were made to draw near to Him. One reason I wrote Grace on a Rambling Road was to help the reader connect to God daily while exploring the natural world.
Another reason for writing this devotional book is to create associations between aspects of RV travel and the truths of the Bible. I’ve discovered that once a link is made from a specific object or experience to a spiritual lesson, then each time we see that object or live through that experience we will be reminded of what we have learned.
For example, one of the stories in the book links S’mores with patience and trusting God. My hope would be that each time you sit around a campfire making S’mores, that reminder will be an encouragement and a challenge.
Some of the devotional entries relate directly to RV travel, and others have a more general focus on experiences while camping, hiking, and driving.
There are humorous stories as well as thoughtful meditations, and each entry includes a scripture passage and prayer.
Grace on a Rambling Road is available in paperback and eBook formats at Amazon, or contact the author directly for additional information by clicking here.
